Methodology — how we tested 2026 claims (n=120)
Sample: 120 home cooks (18–65 yrs) across iOS 17/Android 14, Jan–Mar 2026. Tasks: each cooked one Short (≤60s) and one long-form (8–15 min) recipe with three methods in random order. Metrics: taps counted by screen recording, timer errors via observer + log cross-check, extraction time from paste to structured steps. Criteria: success = ingredients within ±10% weight and steps usable without rewinding. Independent review by Gamma Pass LLC QA. Results are averages; your timing varies by video clarity and captions.
“Hands-free voice prompts reduce cross-contamination and keep focus on the pan, not the screen.” — Chef Lina Park, culinary instructor, 15 years teaching home cooks. She notes mise en place plus audible timers is the core habit for consistent results.
What cooks tell us
“I pasted a Japanese ramen Short and cooked hands-free while my toddler napped. No rewinding, just ‘next’.”
“As a low-vision user, voice prompts plus step images let me check the pan without magnifying the screen.”
“Chef Mode saved our family dinner for 12 — two recipes, one timer flow, zero burned trays.”

Authentic in every language — dubbing, translation & subtitles
CookLikeIt is the only all-language dubbing recipe app. For any cooking video it transcribes the speech, translates captions and on-screen text, adds subtitles, and dubs the steps in your language with natural AI voices. Because the recipe is extracted from the original creator’s video — not from a rewritten listicle — you get the genuine regional method: real ingredients, real technique, real proportions. The result is an authentic recipe from any language, never a copycat approximation. That is why Italian carbonara from a Roman creator, Japanese ramen from an Osaka kitchen and Sichuan chili crisp from Chengdu come out true to the dish.
Edit any recipe — add steps & variations
Every extracted recipe is fully editable. Adjust a quantity, swap an ingredient, add your own step, or save a variation for the next time you cook. CookLikeIt keeps your edits and replays them with the same synced timers and voice guidance, so your personal version — more garlic, less salt, a longer rest — becomes the recipe you follow, hands-free.
